My husband got a new job 6 months ago at a different church. Working for a church is not just a job, it's a life style. He works there, we attend services there, our daughter play theres, you make friends there, you serve there. It can be if we want it to be a 24 hour place in our lives. We've have set out to make couple friends in this new church. Making friends in general is not an easy thing in your 20's post college days. It gets even more challenging when you become married and start having kids.
This past weekend, we sucked up our fear of rejection and went on a double date with potential new friends. We were both nervous and even more so when they ended up 20 minutes late. In that 20 minutes, all I could of was what would we do if they just didn't show. They showed with a lot of apologizes for being late. To make the story short, the cheeks worked their magic and we have new couple friends. I know this because they offered to go get coffee after dinner, walked us to our car, gave hugs, and asked for a second date. A sigh of relief. They also reminded us again our a great time they had on Sunday at church and in response to an email I sent of thanking them. Yep its official the cheeks secured us new friends. Okay my husband helped too.
